Description Adiponectin is an adipose-derived secreted protein that influences the body’s response to insulin. Adiponectin belongs to the soluble defense collagen super family and is involved with the promotion of adipocyte differentiation, fatty acid catabolism, and insulin resistance. Recombinant adiponectin is a multimeric glycoprotein that also has anti-inflammatory effects on the cell lining of blood vessel walls. High blood levels of adiponectin are associated with reduced risks of heart attacks while low levels are associated with obesity and an increased risk of heart attacks. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to human Adiponectin expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~24.8kD Biological Activity: The ED50, as determined by a cytotoxic assay (using M1 cells) was found to be 3-6ug/ml. Endotoxin: <1EU/ug (LAL) Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
