Description Pre-B-Cell Colony Enhancing Factor Visfatin is a putative cytokine originally identified as PBEF (Pre-B cell-enhancing factor), subsequently determined to be a nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) enzyme and member of the NAPRTase family, involved in catalyzing the biosynthesis of NAD from nicotinamide. Visfatin is highly expressed in bone marrow, muscle and liver tissue and increases in expression in response to endotoxin, in amniotic epithelial cells following lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation, and during the activation of T and B cells, dendritic cells and macrophages, suggesting a role in inflammatory processes. Source: Recombinant, full length, rat visfatin (a.a. 27-491) fused at the N-terminus to a His-Tag, expressed in E. coli. Biological Activity: Mimics insulin effects in differentiating 3T3-L1 cells. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
