Description			Recombinant Visfatin comprises a 491 amino acid fragment (1-491) corresponding to the mature Visfatin protein and is expressed in E. coli with an amino- terminal hexahistidine tag. Visfatin is a novel adipokine produced by visceral adipose tissue. Visfatin is thought to be a natural insulin mimetic since is has been shown to bind to insulin receptors in liver, muscle and fat. Increased circulating plasma levels are likely to play critical roles in metabolic syndromes such as obesity and diabetes. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
