Description StAR-related lipid transfer protein 5, also known as STARD5, belongs to the STARD family of proteins is comprised of fifteen different members. All members contain the characteristic START domain and are believed to play key roles in the metabolism and transport of lipids. The STARD proteins are grouped into six subfamilies based on their START domain sequences. STARD5 constitute one subfamily, sharing ~30% aa identity with each other. STARD5 is not sterol-regulated but can be induced by endomplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. Due to its exclusive tissue expression and its interaction with sterols, StARD6 may function in reproduction and germ cell maturation. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-213 from human STARD5 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, expressed in E.coli. Molecular Weight: ~26.2kD (236aa), confirmed by MALDI-TOF Applications: Suitable for use in SDS-PAGE. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
