| Description | Frationated Solanum tuberosum lectin/agglutinin (STA/STL) is a hydroxyproline-rich glycoprotein. This lectin contains 50% carbohydrates, predominantly arabinoseand consists of two subunits. STA/STL binds oligomers of N-acetylglucosamine and some bacterial cell wall oligosaccharides containing N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetylmuramic acid. N-acetyllactosamine is a relatively weak inhibitor of hemagglutination induced by this lectinthough, it does not have a blood group specificity. Solanum tuberosum lectin has been shown to bind two and a half times more to colon cancer cells than normal tissue. Source: Potato Blood Specificity: Non-specific Sugar Specificity: (N-Acetylglucosamine)2-4 Inhibitory Carbohydrate: Chitin Hydrolysate Divalent Ions: None Required Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | ||
