| Description | Isolated from tomatoes, affinity-purified Lycopersicon esculentum lectin (LEL/LEA) has a carbohydrate specificity toward GlcNac. Composed of a single stable subunit, LEL is a useful marker of tracking vasculature in rodents and in neuroscience research. This lectin has an unusually high carbohydrate content of about 50 percent arabinose and galactose. LEL is non-specific agglutinates human erythrocytes A, B, O, or AB blood types. Protease-treated erythrocytes are slightly more sensitive to agglutination by this lectin. Source: Tomato Blood Specificity: Non-specific Sugar Specificity: (N-Acetylglucosamine)2-4 Inhibitory Carbohydrate: Chitin Hydrolysate Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
