Description This 50kD tetrameric lectin is composed of four subunits of identical size and has an acidic isoelectric point. This lectin does not contain attached carbohydrate and is immunologically related to GNL and NPL. Amaryllis lectin binds only alpha mannose residues, not alpha glucosyl structures in contrast to Con A, PSA and LCA. Like NPL there appears to be an extended binding site for polymannose structures, not requiring mannose to be at the non-reducing terminus. HHL binds both (a -1,3) and (a-1,6) linked mannose structures, as well as some yeast galactomannans. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
