| Description | Dolichos biflorus agglutinin is a glycoprotein with a molecular weight of about 120,000 and consists of 4 subunits of approximately equal size. This lectin has an isoelectric point of about pH 5.5 and a carbohydrate specificity toward a-linked N-acetylgalactosamine. DBA is approximately 5000 times more active in agglutinating blood group A1 cells versus A2 cells, and is used to distinguish these blood types in routine serology. It has also been used to establish secretor status in A1 individuals by hemagglutination inhibition techniques and has potential applications in examining tumors which affect the levels of blood group substances. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Inhibiting/Eluting Sugar: 200mM N-acetylgalactosamine Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | ||
