| Description | Affinity purified Succinylated concanavalin A (Succ-Con A) is derived from native lectin concanavalin A (Con A). It is a nonagglutinating lectin that has a carbohydrate specificity for alphalinked mannose and glucose, with a sugar elution of alpha-methlyglucoside + alpha-methlymannoside. Succ-Con A have been studied for their effects to induce marked proliferation of human peripheral blood lymphocytes. Succ-Con A exhibits mitogenic action equal to native Con A and both increase lymphocytes levels of cyclic GMP. Unlike Con A, Succ-Con at high concertation does not decrease mitogenic activity. Succ-Con A reversibly prevents the growth of normal cells and restores a normal growth phenotype to transformed cells. Source: Jackbean Blood Specificity: None Sugar Specificity: alpha-Mannose, alpha-Glucose Inhibitory Carbohydrate: alpha-Methylmannoside + alpha-Methylglucoside Divalent Ions: Ca++, Mn++ Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
