| Description | Trichomonas vaginalis is an aerobic, flagellated protozoan and the causative agent of trichomoniasis, the most common pathogenic protozoan infection of humans in industrialized countries. Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted infection. While women suffer from a variety of symptoms, in men the infection is often asymptomatic. The infection can be successfully treated with antibiotics. Source: Inactivated Trichomonas vaginalis, strain C1:NIH Inactivation: The preparation is inactivated by suspension of cells in pure water + 0.09% sodium azide, followed by two freezethaw cycles. Inactivation is confirmed by no visible colonies on permissive plates after 5 days compared to control. Storage and Stability: Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -70°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. | ||
