| Description | Ubiquitous endoprotease within constitutive secretory pathways capable of cleavage at the RX(K/R)R consensus motif (PMID:11799113, PMID:1629222, PMID:1713771, PMID:2251280, PMID:24666235, PMID:25974265, PMID:7592877, PMID:7690548, PMID:9130696). Mediates processing of TGFB1, an essential step in TGF-beta-1 activation (PMID:7737999). (Microbial infection) Probably cleaves and activates anthrax and diphtheria toxins.
