Description Streptavidin, a tetrameric protein secreted by Streptomyces avidinii, binds tightly to a small growth factor biotin. It finds wide use in molecular biology through its extraordinarily strong affinity for the vitamin biotin; the dissociation constant (Kd) of the biotin-streptavidin complex is on the order of ~10-15 mol/L. The high affinity recognition of biotin and biotinylated molecules has made streptavidin one of the most important components in diagnostics and laboratory kits. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to Streptomyces streptavidin, fused to His-tag at N-terminal expressed in E.coli. Molecular Weight: ~15.6kD (148aa) (MALDI-TOF) AA Sequence: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MGSHMAEAGI TGTWYNQLGS TFIVTAGADG ALTGTYESAV GNAESRYVLT GRYDSAPATD GSGTALGWTV AWKNNYRNAH SATTWSGQYV GGAEARINTQ WLLTSGTTEA NAWKSTLVGH DTFTKVKP Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
